FROM CAP TOWN TO VIC FALLS

From Cape Town, with its impressive Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, Chipman Peak, the peguins of Simon Town through the Namib Desert, with its monumental red dunes, to the wildlife sanctuary of Etosha National Park, the Caprivi Strip and Chobe National Park and ending with the majestic Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world. It’s all there!

Day 1: Cape Town

Welcome at the Cape Town airport by our local French-speaking chauffeur guide and transfer to the lodge. Lunch at your leisure. City tour if time permits and installation at the lodge (Table mountain, Lion’s head, etc…).

Day 2: Cape of Good Hope – Penguins at Simon’s Town – Chapman’s Peak

Day trip: visit the fishing village of Simon’s Town. We took the road back to Cape Town, but this time along the West coast and thus the Atlantic Ocean. We take the Chapman’s Peak Road.

Days 3: Cape Town – Table Mountain – Namaqualand

Leaving Cape Town, we head north to Namaqualand, known for its many fleures in spring. We settle down for the night in this mountainous desert far from civilization. Free morning where it is possible to take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain (if not done the day before). Possible walk of about 2 hours on flat ground to profiter magnific views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean. We profit this morning to visit a Rooibos farm.

Day 4: Namaqualand – Orange River

After the border crossing, transfer to Namibia and overnight on the fleuve Orange. From Vanrynsdorp in this semi-desert region of Namaqualand, we drive north. On the way, we will see the tree aloe, whose bark was used to make the quivers of the Khoisan hunters, or the hoodia, Then leave for an activity on the fleuve Orange, the canoe, making natural border between Namibia and South Africa.

Day 5: Orange River – Fish River Canyon

Breakfast at the camp. Beginning of the morning free in a beautiful setting on the banks of the orange river. Then it will be time to set off again to discover the 2nd largest canyon in the world. Lunch, time to rest during the hottest hours, then in the middle of the afternoon, a short walk, to admire the different sumptuous views that offrent the tops of the Fish River Canyon. You can return there for sunset at the finish of the day.

Day 6: Fish River Canyon – Aus: Wild Horse Country

Morning transfer to Aus, famous for its wild horses. Surrounded by the Aus Mountains overlooking the plains. For many years, several herds of wild horses have inhabited the village and its surroundings. We leave for a hike in these spectacular stretches to try to see the famous wild horses that populate the place.

Day 7: Aus – Namib Desert

In the early morning, departure to the dunes of the Sesriem National Park. Crossing of the Khomas massif. Picnic on the way. In fin the afternoon, weather permitting, climb the Elim Dune until sunset. Return to the lodge. Accommodation at Sesriem campsite or similar for 2 consecutive nights

Day 8: Namib Desert – Dune 45 – Deadvlei/Sossusvlei – Sesriem Canyon

After breakfast, we leave to discover the site of Sossusvlei and the Tsauchab valley allows us to discover the central Namib and its giant dunes. We also discover in Sossusvlei the highest dunes of the world (more than 300 meters) in the oldest desert of the planet. A shuttle bus takes us to the top of Big Daddy and we admire the view of the sea of dunes that leaves infini. In fin the afternoon, we leave to discover the Sesriem Canyon.

Day 9: Namib Desert – Swakopmund

Free lunch and free afternoon in Swakopmund. Possibility to do free activities to pay on the spot (Flight over the Namib etc). Breakfast prepared by the guide. Drive to Solitaire, a small town in central Namibia near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Road to Swakopmund. Passage of the Gaub pass and the Kuiseb pass.

Day 10: Swakopmund – Cape Cross (sea lion colony) – Brandberg Massif

Departure to the North along the ocean to reach Cape Cross after breakfast. Visit of Cape Cross. Located 60 km north of the coastal town of Henties Bay. Then track towards the immense inselberg of the Brandberg. Including the famous White Lady, to which we will walk. The visit is accompanied by a local guide.

Day 11 & 12. Spitzkoppe – Brandberg Range – Himba Village – Etosha National Park: Game Drive

Settle in for three nights inside the park, first at Okaukuejo restcamp for 2 nights and then towards the east of the park (Namutoni) for 1 night. Dinner and overnight stay. Drive to Etosha National Park, through the town of Kamanjab where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the Himba villages in the area. We continue to Etosha. Lunch along the way (not far from the Himba village).

Day 13: Etosha National Park: two days of safaris!

Two days dedicated to safaris in the Etosha National Park to admire the African wildlife. We take the time to walk all the tracks from waterhole to waterhole to surprise the animals who come to quench their thirst. Lunch. The safaris are done early in the morning, until the find of the morning. Meal, rest time, then we leave in mid/fin afternoon until nightfall. Overnight camping.

Day 14: Etosha Park – Rundu – Divundu: Caprivi Strip

Depart for the town of Rundu afin to reach Kaisosi lodge, gateway to the Caprivi Strip… From the lodge, boat ride on the legendary waters of the Kavango to discover the many crocodiles of the fleuve, hippos, buffles etc.

Day 15: Rundu – Divundu: Caprivi Strip

We are in the heart of the Caprivi Strip. Arrival at the Nunda River camp. Then departure in the afternoon by traditional dugout canoe (mokoro) for a dugout canoe safari and photo safari in the Mahango Park, still on the waters of the Kavango, to discover the rich and abundant wildlife. Return to the camp at sunset.

Day 16: Caprivi Strip – Bwabwata and Mudumu Park

Ascend by the same road on this Caprivi strip and continue to Kongola, 100 km before Katima Mulilo, at the extreme east of the Caprivi strip, a corridor 15 km wide and 500 km long. We camp at Namushasha lodge or equivalent and embark on an open 4×4 safari from the lodge in the final afternoon.

Day 17: Caprivi Strip – Botswana – Chobe Park

Discovery of the traditional village of the Mbukushu tribe which still lives from fishing and hunting… We will then leave for Botswana via the town of Katima Mullilo where we will stop to discover the typical market. Crossing the border, we continue to the town of Kasane.

Day 18: Chobe National Park

Depart early for a game drive/photo shoot with a park ranger in an open 4×4 vehicle from the lodge. Coffee break inside the Park then back to the lodge for lunch and rest. Boat trip in the afternoon, on the waters of the Chobe. Return to the lodge at dusk.

Day 19: Chobe National Park – Victoria Falls

Settling in at the hotel in the afternoon… Passage through the town of Kasane then arrival at the Zimbabwe border. After the administrative formalities, departure in the direction of the Victoria Falls… Possibility of flying over them by helicopter (optional: 120 € to date).

Day 20: End and Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls airport for the return flight to France. Breakfast only.
